Senior Buyer - Content

Position Overview

The Senior Buyer works collaboratively with internal departments to efficiently plan, select and analyze current titles and to negotiate purchases and maintain excellent relationships with a select group of independent studios. This role provides financial analysis, forecasting, and analytics for product purchases--providing strategic recommendations that advance business goals, enhance the performance and exposure of Redbox titles, and identify future opportunities for Redbox.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides quantitative recommendations to improve the content purchasing negotiating pricing process and for selecting product from independent studios

  • Maintains excellent studio relationships, ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled

  • Provides valuable input into the FS&A forecast used to track product flow in terms of release schedule, purchase quantities, projected spend, and rental performance which influences financial projections, budgets and margin goals

  • Works with Finance on product performance analysis, resolving issues, and creating recommendations/action plans to improve forecasting accuracy

  • Reviews results, drives insights and performs adhoc analysis to quantify impact and make strategic recommendations on KPIs, sales, profit and expense

  • Assists with forecasting the Full Life (52-week) rental performance of selected titles

  • Purchasing contact for matters between Content and other departments; collaborates with others to ensure alignment with core business

  • Works with the Marketing team in developing a marketing plan for titles selected for purchase

  • Assists Department Director in planning, supporting and representing the Content team in corporate initiatives, preparing Content performance commentary for leadership, providing content selection and recommendations for On Demand deals, and in selecting titles for the light box

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business (or related field) and 5+ years of relevant experience in the Home Entertainment/video industry required; 2+ additional years of work experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience as a Buyer or in Purchasing role required

  • Financial Reporting & Forecasting experience preferred

  • Experience with data analytics tools required

  • Advanced skills with Excel, Powerpoint, and Word required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A passion for the film business - love of movies and knowledge of film and television is a must!

  • Strong negotiation & written communication skills; great collaborator

  • Ability to build relationships & work effectively independently and within a team

  • Demonstrates strong organizational & problem solving skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage numerous tasks quickly, accurately and efficiently in a fast paced environment with deadline pressure; comfortable taking initiative & managing multiple projects

  • Occasional travel to Chicago/Bellevue required

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and others in person and electronically.
